Shane Dawson
I'm a huge YouTube nerd. I watch it way more than TV.
This started when I was in 7th grade and got my first iPod. I'll never forget the first person I subscribed to... It was Shane Dawson. I'll never forget the first video I watched which was his parody of 3oh!3's "Don't trust" and I died laughing and every time I watched the video I got a sense of relief.
Over the middle school years I subscribed to many people and lost email passwords so I had to resubscribe... I'm pretty sure I'm 12 of Shane's how many subscribers.
Over high school and college, I stopped watching YouTube. It wasn't until my sophomore year of college that I started watching it religiously. Getting trapped on the website for hours. Between ASMR, Beauty Guru's, Vloggers and most of all Shane Dawson.
I would watch his videos and laugh so much. I loved watching his vlogs, to me he was the first vlogger I watched and I loved watching everything, from his family to him growing up.
I'll never forget when he started dating Lisa and I was so happy for him. When he stopped vlogging, I stopped watching. Over the years, I could tell he just wasn't happy.
Then he came out. I watched the video and was so proud of him. He was truly inspiring.
When he started dating Ryland, I started watching him over again... He's so open and you can just tell he's so much happier.
Whenever I'm having a bad day, I go straight to Shane's videos or he's squad and I know I'm going to laugh.
When I'm at my lowest of lows, crying in my bed, I watch Shane's videos and know I'm going to laugh and forget about everything.
Shane's inspired me so much in life. I want to start vlogging. While YouTube is becoming a younger generation thing, he's still here on YouTube, creating new content.
* All I can say to Shane Dawson is that if he ever reads this... Thank you so much. You've saved my life in so many ways. By making your videos, I was able to watch them and remember how precious life is and how much happiness I have to look forward to in life. There's so many things to say but these are the only ones I can think of right now.
